Most users of the iPhone agree that it’s a great device. However, most also agree that there are a handful of things that they wish they could change about their phone. This has been the case since the iPhone was first introduced. When the original iPhone was debuted, one of the biggest complaints was that it didn’t offer a copy and paste function. The reason this annoyed so many people was while the iPhone was capable of doing some revolutionary things, it didn’t have this seemingly simple function that was commonly found in much more basic phones. Fortunately, Apple eventually responded to these complaints and added this functionality.
Currently, the biggest issue that many iPhone owners have about the device is their text tone. On either of the 3G iPhone models, there are only six text tones. Additionally, there is an option to choose to have no text tone. However, if this option is selected, not only will it prevent the phone from making a noise when a text is received, but it also won’t vibrate.
When Apple rolled out their latest iPhone operating system, they included 15 new text tones. Unfortunately, there are two reasons this fell short of solving most people’s problem. First, these tunes are only available on the iPhone 4. Second, although there are 15 available, most people agree that they are all either too obnoxious or too long.
To solve this problem, Apple needs to allow users to download their own text tones. While it’s possible to change the text tone on a jailbroken iPhone, most people don’t want to resort to this measure. And given the fact that Apple allows users to download additional ringtones, it should be just as easy for them to allow new text tones.
